Back in the spring of 2008 I was on a backpacking trip in Thailand staying at a great little resort on Koh Phangan.  I ended up having a conversation with a guy who told me that he was financing his world travels by “trading currencies”.  At that point all I knew about currencies was changing in dollars for thai baht.  Our interaction was quite brief but I was intrigued enough to start doing research.

I decided to extend my travels as I was doing some work online creating websites for people and started spending a few hours a day (sometimes much more) learning about Forex. Then I invested in my first course and started applying what I had learned. It sure wasn’t as easy as they made it sound on the salespage!  After a while I realized that the strategy I learned was not profitable and this pattern of taking courses only to be disappointed continued for the next 2 years!

In this life I’ve been blessed with the gift of perserverance, I learned at a young age that if you give up then you have no chance – keep on trying. Finally after 2 long years trying to make money trading with all of these useless strategies I found 2 mentors who are true professionals. Both of them have an extensive history and track record trading for major firms.  What they taught me allowed me to see the markets in a new way, one that is quantifiable and lets me see where the professional traders are loading up or dumping their volume.

Finally I have been able to realize my dream of being a profitable trader. I’m not a full time trader yet but that is my goal within the next 12 months. I have a passion for traveling and am longing to see more of the world while I’m trading for a living.
